Wooden Shoes Second At Cavalier Baseball Invitational

Teutopolis High School placed second in the Cavalier Invitational Series Baseball Tournament Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes opened witrh a 3-0 win over Morris. The two teams went into the eighth without a run before T-town broke loose with three runs.
T-town had seven hits led by Jordan Thoele with a single, home run and three RBI and Devin Smith with two singles. Kyle Smith improved his pitching record to 3-1-2, going all eight innings, allowing four hits, no walks and striking out three.
In the second contest, T-town edged Ottawa Marquette 5-4 with a run in the top of the seventh.
Ottawa Marquette held a 3-2 first inning lead until the fourth when the Shoes pushed ahead 4-3. Ottawa came back with a run in the bottom of the sixth but the Shoes pulled it out in the seventh.
D. Smith had a single and double while Louis Niemerg had three singles and two RBI. Niemerg pitched the seven-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts to improve to 6-0.
The Shoes then fell 4-1 to Washington. Washington tallied three runs in the first and one in the fifth. The lone run for T-town came in the fourth.
T-town had five hits, all singles by five different players. The loss gives the Shoes a 20-5-1 record.
