Hearts Post Victory Over Flora

The Effingham Hearts posted a 5-2 victory over the Flora Wolves in non-conference baseball action Friday.

A three-run second inning was a key to Effingham's win. Each team scored a run in the first. The Hearts led 5-1 after scoring a run in the fifth. Flora scored in the sixth to account for the final score.

For Effingham at the plate: Braydon Bone singled and scored and drove in two runs; Hudson Graham drove in a run; Michael Woltman singled twice, scored and drove in a run; Lane Koenig singled twice; Blake White doubled and walked and scored; Adam Koester singled and walked, scored and drove in a run; and Swayde Sanders scored a run.

Kevin Daugherty got the win for Effingham, allowing just two hits and two walks in four innings of work and no earned runs while fanning three. Ryan Barnes got the final nine outs to record a save, allowing three hits and one run.

The Hearts' baseball doubleheader with Salem today has been rained out.
