Effingham St. Anthony High School went nine innings before pulling out a 3-2 win over North Clay (Louisville) Thursday.
North Clay edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning and pushed that to 2-0 in the top of the third. But the Bulldogs tied the score in the bottom of the frame. And that's where it stood until the bottom of the ninth when the Bulldogs brought home the winning run.
St. Anthony had nine hits in the game. Ben Hecht picked up the eight-hit pitching win to improve his record to 2-0.
St. Anthony improves to a perfect 7-0 and will return to action against Ramsey Monday. The next National Trail Conference game is Tuesday against Neoga at Evergreen Hollow Park.
