Wooden Shoes Trounce North Clay, Area Baseball Roundup

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School pushed its record to 17-4-1 on the season by trouncing North Clay (Louisville), 14-4 in a six-inning baseball game Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes pushed ahead 4-0 in the first inning. North Clay came back and tied the game in the top of the fifth. But the Shoes went on a tear, scoring six runs in the bottom of the frame and ending the game in the sixth via the 10-run rule.
Brock Mette had two singles, a triple and drove in two runs for the Shoes. Louis Niemerg added a single, triple and two RBI while Jordan Thoele had a double and three RBI.
Niemerg picked up his sixth win without a loss.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had two six-run innings in downing Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 12-2 in five innings.
Both teams had four hits in the contest. BSE was led by Wade Ireland with a double and three RBI and Lewis Brown with a triple and an RBI. BSE improves to 9-10 on the season.
BCCH was led by Austin Rexroad with a triple and Hunter Seaton with a double and an RBI.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a 5-3 win over South Central Tuesday evening.
WSS edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead. South Central tied in the third. WSS edged ahead 3-2 in the fourth. South Central came back in the top of the fifth to knot the score once again. However, WSS tallied two in the bottom of the frame and held that lead the rest of the way.
Deremiah had a single, home run and two RBI to lead WSS. South Central was led by Hill with a double and two RBI and Ratermann with a double. The Cougars drop to 3-9.

Newton started out with a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Neoga 14-4 in six innings via the 10-run rule.
The Eagles had a whopping 20 hits in the contest led by Nate Meinhart with three singles and an RBI, Mitch Bierman with three singles and three RBI and John Grunloh with three singles and two RBI.
Neoga was led by Jordan Hoedebecke with two singles and an RBI.

Cumberland had the early 5-1 lead and led 7-1 in the top of the fifth. But Flora mounted a big comeback, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth then tallied the winning run in the sixth for an 8-7 victory.
The Pirates outhit Flora 10-6 led by Baugess with a single, double and an RBI and Cutts with a single, home run and two RBI.
