EFFINGHAM 15, STEW-STRAS/WINDSOR 1 (6 INNS)
Carter Hayes continued his hot hitting as the Hearts posted a big win over SS/W. Hayes homered, doubled, singled and walked, scoring three times and driving in four runs. Michael Woltman also had three hits including a double and drove in a run. Brent Beals also had a three-hit game, scored three times and drove in a run. Also for the Hearts at the plate: Swayde Sanders doubled, Adam Koester singled and walked, scored twice and drove in three runs; Eli Buhrman singled and drove in a run; Brennan Poland singled and walked, scored three times, and drove in a run; Lane Koenig doubled and walked twice and drove in a run; Reed Schafer singled and walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run; Ryan Barnes singled and scored a run; and Jacob Dust scored a run.
For Stew-Stras/Windsor: Walner had two hits and scored the lone run; Moschenrose drove in a run; Hutchison doubled; Deremiah walked.
Ryan Barnes got the win for the Hearts, allowing no runs in five innings of work, giving up two hits and walking two while striking out six. Kevin Daugherty pitched an inning and allowed the run on one hit.
Mark Jones took the loss, allowing seven runs in three and 1/3 innings of work on six hits and two walks while fanning one. Ohnesorge pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs, giving up three hits and three walks while fanning two. Walner gave up six runs, four earned, on four hits and two walks in an inning of work.
The win gets the Hearts to .500 on the season at 9-9.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes improved to 15-4-1 on the spring with a 9-0 win over the Marshall Lions.
Matt Koester pitched a one-hit shutout to get his first win of the spring, walking two and fanning four.
At the plate for T-Town: Austin Hartke homered and walked, scored twice and drove in three runs; Jordan Thoele doubled and singled and scored a run; John Kreke singled twice and walked and scored twice; Jacob Roepke singled twice and walked and drove in three runs; Louis Niemerg singled and walked twice and scored three times; Brock Mette singled and walked, scored and drove in a run; Austin Johnson singled and walked twice and drove in a run; and Tommy Flach singled.
