Dieterich Drops Baseball Game, Newton, North Clay Win

OBLONG -- Oblong edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead on Dieterich and blanked the Movin' Maroons 9-0 in baseball Thursday.
Oblong tallied two more in the third and five in the fourth. Oblong had 11 hits in the contest including four extra base hits.
Dieterich had three hits led by Thoele with a double.

Villa Grove/Heritage came calling and handed Cumberland a 12-2 loss in Little Okaw Valley Conference Southeast Division play Thursday.
Villa Grove/Heritage held a 7-2 lead after three innings and ended the game in the fifth.
Cumberland had five hits in the contest led by Bryson Cutts with two singles and an RBI and Houston Napier with a double.

At Altamont
North Clay (Louisville) edged Altamont 3-1. The Indians held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when North Clay tied the score. The Cardinals then had a two-run fifth.
Bloemer picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts. Byers had three singles for the winners while Repking had a single, double and an RBI.
Altamont was led by Wolff with two singles and an RBI.

Newton pounded Robinson to the tune of 18-7 behind a 14-hit attack Thursday.
Brock Mammoser had three singles, a triple and drove in five runs for the Eagles. Mitch Bierman had three singles and four RBI while Nick Reis and John Grunloh had two singles each. Grunloh drove in two runs and Reis had one RBI.
Newton is now 6-1 in the Little Illini Conference, 10-7 overall.
