Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and went on to blank Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 8-0 in baseball competition Wednesday.

Kyle Bourgeois picked up the pitching win, allowing three hits, three walks and striking out four.

The Bulldogs had nine hits in the contest led by Drew Gibson with three singles and two RBI and Jacob Lorenz with two singles and two RBI.

WSS' Tristan Warner had the lone extra base hit of the game with a double.

At St. Anthony

At Kinmundy

South Central broke a 2-2 opening inning lead with two runs in the second and went on for a 5-4 win over Effingham.

The two teams scored single runs each in the sixth. Effingham's Carter Hayes hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh but the Hearts fell short.

Trent Geiler recorded the pitching win for the Cougars. He allowed four runs over seven innings, struck out six, walked three and gave up four hits.

The Hearts took the first inning lead on a two-run blast by Hayes, bringing home Adam Koester. But the Cougars put up two runs in the bottom of the frame on a two-run double by Noah Powless.

The Cougars scored two runs in the second on an error and an RBI single by Gavin Ratermann. The Cougars tallied a run in the fifth on a solo homer by Dylan Smith.

At Kinmundy

Dieterich stepped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning and went on to beat Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 4-2.

Thoele picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts through six innings. Bohnhoff came on in the seventh to finish the game with two strikeouts.

Poe led the way hitting for the Maroons with a single, double and an RBI while Thoele added a double.

Shelton had the lone hit of the game for BCCH with a single and an RBI.

At Dieterich

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Noah Flowers pitched a perfect game as the Bombers blanked Patoka 15-0.

Flowers pitched five innings, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out seven. BSE took a 7-0 second inning lead, then added on five runs in the third and three in the fourth to end the contest early.

Drake Hall had a double, triple and drove in four runs. Lewis Brown and Cole Horner had two singles each. Brown added two RBI.

BSE improves to 7-10. Patoka drops to 1-8.

The Wooden Shoes took a 2-0 lead in the second, tacked on three more runs in the fourth and blanked Mattoon 5-0.

Kyle Smith, a junior, pitched a one-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts. The Shoes had seven hits led by Austin Johnson with two singles and an RBI.

T-town improves its record to 14-4-1 on the season.
