Effingham High School outlasted Mount Zion Tuesday in the second game of a doubleheader that had been postponed from Saturday.
The two squads were tied at 1-1 after two innings. The Hearts took a 4-1 lead in the third. Mount Zion came back with two runs in the fourth and tied in the top of the seventh. EHS scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored Reed Schafer.
Swayde Sanders went two-for-three and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the third.

Sullivan stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and had a five-run third to blank Effingham St. Anthony 9-0.
Dakota Clayton picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out two. The Redskins are now 17-3 on the season.
Jacob Lorenz had a single for the Bulldogs.

At Altamont
Altamont edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 4-3. The Indians led 1-0 after the first and tacked on two in the third. WSS came back with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to tie the score. Altamont then tallied the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
Brady Winn and Devon Guerrattez had a double each for the winners. Guerrattez added a single and an RBI. Klaiton Wolff had two singles and an RBI.
WSS had five hits, all singles by five different players.

Brownstown/St. Elmo edged Cumberland 4-3 with the winning run coming in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Cumberland led 1-0 until the third when BSE tallied two runs. Cumberland tied in the top of the fourth and BSE came back to lead in the bottom of the frame. Cumberland tied in the sixth. BSE then scored the winning run with an RBI walkoff single with two outs by Drake Hall. Hall finished with two singles and two RBI. Nate Matthews had a single and double.
The Pirates were led by Kanizer with a double. Cumberland drops to 10-10.
BSE improves to 6-10 on the season.

Teutopolis blanked Newton 4-0 with a three-run fifth and a single run in the sixth.
Both teams had four hits. Niemerg led the Wooden Shoes with two singles and two RBI while Mette added a triple. Newton was led by Reis with a single and double.
Niemerg improved his pitching record to 5-0 with a four-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts. T-town is now 13-4-1 on the season and hosts Mattoon today. Newton drops to 9-7 and is at Robinson Thursday.

Neoga claimed a 7-2 victory over Arcola Tuesday.
The Indians held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when Arcola tallied two runs. Neoga came back with two in the bottom of the frame then tacked on four in the fifth.
Hill was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts. Monroe and Walk had a single each. Monroe added two RBI and Walk one. Neoga is now 13-3 on the season.
