Stew-Stras Evens Record At 2-2, Area Roundup

STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg edged Altamont 4-3 in high school National Trail Conference baseball action Tuesday.
Altamont took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. The Indians scored their first run on a bases loaded hit by pitch which scored Borders. Goeckner, who doubled, advanced to third on a walk that loaded the bases. Finn drew a walk to score the second run.
Stew-Stras was held hitless until the fifth when Ohnesorge singled but was left stranded. In the sixth, Kramer walked and Vonderheide got on base after being hit by a pitch. Justin Fulk, on the first pitch of his at-bat, drove one deep over the fence to give the Comets the lead. Helton reached base on a fielder's choice as the Indians attempted to complete the double play with a throw to second for the out but Helton beat the throw to first as Bugger scored. Bugger reached base when he was hit by a pitch.
Altamont attempted a comeback in the seventh. Goeckner singled and advanced on a wild pitch. A ground out by Ziegler moved Goeckner to third. Finn got the credit for the RBI as a dropped fy ball scored Goeckner. Finn was caught trying to steal second base for the final out of the game.
Stew-Stras improves to 2-1 in the NTC, 2-2 overall and is back in action Thursday against Neoga.

South Central 10, St. Elmo 0
South Central took a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back in blanking St. Elmo to improve to a perfect 5-0 in the conference, 8-1 overall.
The Cougars banged out 13 hits in the game led by Dylan Smith who hit a two-run single in the first and a two-run triple in the fourth for four RBI. Noah Powless had a single, double and an RBI.
Ben Davis led St. Elmo with a double.

Windsor 3, Brownstown 2
Brownstown took the early 2-0 lead but Windsor didn't panic and came back with a run in the bottom of the first, one in the third and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Aaron White led the winners with three hits while Hayden Cole had two hits. The Blue Devils improve to 2-4 overall.
Behrens had a hit and an RBI for the Bombers.

North Clay 4, Sandoval 2
Sandoval took a 2-0 lead in the third inning but couldn't hold on as North Clay tallied one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Dylan Walker pitched the three-hit victory with 15 strikeouts. Lawson Britton and Nick McKnelly went two for three each. Britton had two doubles while McKnelly had an RBI. The Cardinals improve to 2-0 in the Midland Trail Conference, 6-2 overall.

Neoga 8, Dieterich 2
Dieterich held a 2-1 lead until the fifth inning when Neoga tallied three runs then tacked on four more in the sixth to pull out the victory. Romack moved his record to 2-1 on the season by throwing a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts. He also aided his own cause with a home run and three RBI. McKimmy had a double and an RBI.
Neoga improves to 3-0 in the National Trail Conference, 4-2 overall.
