Bulldogs edge BCCH, 4-2

Although Effigham St. Anthony hosted Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in high school baseball action Tuesday, the Bulldogs were the guests and handed BCCH a 4-2 loss.
The game was moved from Beecher City due to wet grounds to Evergreen Hollow Park. St. Anthony pushed out to a 3-0 first inning lead. BCCH fought back with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. But the Bulldogs added on a security run in the seventh inning.
The Bulldogs had only three hits in the game but were aided by six BCCH errors. Eli Dasenbrock banged out two singles and drove in two of the four runs. Alex Hoelscher picked up the nine-hit victory and Ben Hecht got the save.
Blake McKay pitched all seven innings and was the tough-luck loser throwing a three-hitter with five walks and 10 strikeouts. Donovan Riley led BCCH with two singles, a double and an RBI. McKay chipped in with two singles. BCCH drops to 0-4 in the NTC, 1-6 overall.
