The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs contest was postponed due to the weather Tuesday.

Braves 12, Marlins 2

At least it didn't rain. Instead, the problem Tuesday night for the Miami Marlins was a deluge against Mat Latos. The Atlanta Braves scored seven runs off Latos in the first inning and beat Miami for the second day in a row to start the season, 12-2.

The retractable roof at Marlins Park was closed in the aftermath of a gaffe on opening day, when rain caught officials by surprise and forced a 16-minute delay.

Orioles 6, Rays 5

Even after his team nearly blew a big lead, Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was feeling good. Adam Jones drove in two with a double during a four-run first inning, and the Orioles hung on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 Tuesday night.

Rockies 5, Brewers 2

Colorado slugger Troy Tulowitzki wants to show that his team can hit for power on the road, not only at Coors Field in Denver's thin air. Rockies hitters have 12 doubles in the first two games of the season, tying a major league record that has stood for more than a century.

Colorado hit six doubles for the second consecutive game Tuesday night on the way to a 5-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The dozen two-base hits matched the mark set by the New York Giants over the first two games in 1912.

Diamondbacks 7, Giants 6

Two games into the season, the World Series champion San Francisco Giants are beset by injuries to several key players. That was the team's biggest issue following a 7-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night. All-Star pitcher Matt Cain was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm injury before the game and won't start as scheduled on Wednesday. Jake Peavy has a back problem that flared up during his bullpen session and could affect his ability to make his scheduled start on Sunday. And first baseman Brandon Belt strained his groin going after a foul ball in the fourth inning and had to leave the game.

Padres 7, Dodgers 3

Wil Myers' first hit for the San Diego Padres was an important one, even though it might have been overshadowed a bit in a four-run ninth inning. Myers' tiebreaking single sent the Padres to a rain-delayed 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.

Rangers 3, Athletics 1

Jeff Banister smelled of beer from a postgame dousing by his Texas team to celebrate the manager's first victory at the big league level, and he held onto the wrinkled lineup card as a souvenir for his 13-year-old son, Jacob.

Healthy at last -- "I can feel both my arms" -- Prince Fielder was thrilled he contributed to a special night for Banister and the rest of the Rangers in a 3-1 win against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

Angels 2, Mariners 0

Angels manager Mike Scioscia and pitcher C.J. Wilson had differing views of the same performance. Scioscia went so far as to call what Wilson did a "masterpiece" after the left-hander gave up two hits over eight innings in Los Angeles' 2-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

Wilson was quick to counter.

"I disagree. For me, that's not a masterpiece," Wilson said. "It was good enough. I'll take it."
