TEUTOPOLIS -- This contest went 11 innings before Teutopolis scored in the bottom of the frame to edge Effingham 5-4 Monday evening in baseball action.

The Wooden Shoes grabbed the early lead as Jacob Roepke singled before Jordan Thoele doubled, bringing Roepke home in the first inning.

Effingham scored in the top of the fourth to knot the score but T-town came right back to regain the lead in the bottom of the frame. Then it was Effingham's turn as the Hearts scored in the sixth to tie the score at 2-2.

The two teams went into extra innings and in the ninth, Effingham took the lead with two runs. T-town came back as Jordan Thoele hit a two-run homer to tie the score. And so it went until the 11th when T-town's John Kreke came to the plate and hit a ball for a fielder's choice that scored Roepke with the winning run.

Tommy Flach picked up the pitching win for the Shoes. Thoele finished with a double, home run and three RBI for the Shoes. Roepke, Kreke, Niemerg and Johnson had two hits each.

Effingham was led by Michael Woltman with three singles. Polland and Graham had a double and an RBI each.

T-town improved to 6-2 on the season.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony took a 2-0 first inning lead and went on for a 12-1 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown in six innings.

Jacob Lorenz led off St. Anthony first with a triple. After a walk, and an error. Bryar Jansen singled home a run.

St. Anthony talied again in the third on a Braden Puckett double. The Bulldogs held a 6-1 lead after four innings then had a five-run fifth and tallied a final run in the sixth.

Lorenz finished with two singles, a double and an RBI while Zach Gardewine, Greg Utz and Puckett had a double each.

Nate Matthews had the lone hit for SEB.

Flora picked up a 12-5 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday evening.

The Wolves had a 3-0 first inning lead . WSS came back with a run in the second and pulled within 3 -2 in the top of the fifth. Flora then broke the game open in the bottom of the inning with six runs.

Derek Moshenrose led the Hachets with a single, double and an RBI while Dylan Ohnesorge had two singles and an RBI.

Blayke Cutts pitched a no-hitter as Cumberland claimed a 2-0 win over Newton.

Cutts finished with three walks and seven strikeouts. The game went to the sixth before the Pirates scored both runs in the sixth inning. Cumberland had only two hits, singles by Houston Napier and Austin Light.

Shelbyville stepped out to a 2-0 lead but that's all the runs it would score as Neoga tallied three in the second for the 3-2 victory.

Guy Walk picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with four walks and nine strikeouts.

Jordan Hoedebecke had two singles for the winners while Zack Monroe added a double.

North Clay (Louisville) scored 12 runs in the first inning and went on to blank Wayne City 16-0 in five innings.

Collin Warren picked up the pitching win allowing no hits and striking out seven. Quincy Aldrich went three-for-three with three singles and three RBI. Jerick Van Dyke had a home run and five RBI. North Clay is now 7-1-1 on the season.
