St. Joe Hands T-town Two Losses, Neoga, South Central Unbeaten

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School ran into a tough baseball squad Saturday and lost a doubleheader to St. Joseph-Ogden.

St. Joseph-Ogden won the opener 2-0. Parker allowed the Wooden Shoes only one hit in the contest, a single by Kreke. Smith picked up the tough-luck loss, throwing a four-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts.

The two teams went scoreless through five innings before St. Joe tallied both its runs in the sixth.

In the second contest, St. Joe took a 3-1 lead after two innings but T-town came back to knot the score in the third. The two teams then did not score again until the ninth inning when St. Joe brought home four runs for a 7-3 victory.

St. Joe had 11 hits in the contest while T-town had six. The Shoes were led by Kreke with a single and double, Niemerg with a double and two RBI, Roepke with a double and Mette with a double.

T-town drops to 5-2 on the season while St. Joe improves to 8-2. T-town will take on Effingham today at Rent One Ballpark in Marion at 2 p.m.

At Arthur

Neoga pushed its record to 6-0 with a doubleheader win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Saturday.

Neoga opened with a 6-3 win behind a 13-hit attack. The Indians took a 2-1 first ininng lead. ALAH came back to knot the score in the fourth but Neoga pushed ahead 4-2 in the fifth. Trevor Moore went four-for-four with four singles. Matt Kingery had a single, home run and drove in three runs.

In the second contest, Neoga stepped out to a 4-1 first inning lead and went on for a 9-4 victory. The Indians had eight hits in the contest.

Neoga is now 5-0 on the season.

At Kinmundy

South Central claimed a 5-3 victory over Edwards County (Albion) Saturday.

The Cougars held a 1-0 first inning lead. Edwards County tied in the top of the fifth but South Central moved ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the frame. Edwards County came back with two runs in the sixth to lead but the Cougars again tied in the bottom of the inning then tallied two to win in the seventh.

Powless had a single, two doubles and drove in two runs for the winners. Smith had a single and triple. The Cougars are now 3-0 on the season.
