EHS Hands Troy Triad Loss, North Clay Wins in High School Baseball

Effingham High School opened its baseball season by trouncing Troy Triad 11-1 in six innings via the 10-run rule Wednesday.

Triad stepped out to a 1-0 first inning lead before the Hearts came back with a five-run second. EHS then tallied two in the fifth and finished the game with a four-run sixth.

EHS pounded out 12 hits in the contest while Braydon Bone and Hudson Graham combined for a two-hitter. Both allowed a hit each. Bone allowed a run, issued four walks and had eight strikeouts. Graham didn't allow a walk and had four strikeouts.

The Hearts were double crazy as they banged out seven doubles in the game. Carter Hayes and Brennan Poland led the way. Hayes had a single, two doubles and two RBI while Poland had two doubles and drove in four runs. Bone, Woltman and Beals had a double each. Bone drove in two runs and Woltman had one RBI.

The EHS junior varsity squad lost 16-2.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) claimed a 12-1 victory over Red Hill (Bridgeport) Wednesday.

The Cardinals had a three-run first to establish themselves then tallied six more in the third and finished with three in the fourth to end the game in the fifth inning.

The Cardinals had seven hits in the contest led by Stinnett with a home run and three RBI, Warren with three singles and an RBI and McNeely with a single.
