Effingham Junior High School picked up both A and B victories over Effingham St. Anthony in baseball action Wednesday evening.
The Mustangs won the A contest, 7-0. Effingham took a 4-0 third inning lead then tacked on a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Mustangs had five hits in the game and was aided by four St. Anthony errors.
Koenig picked up the two-hit pitching victory, allowing only one walk and striking out 12. He now has a 4-0 record.
Donaldson had a solo home run for the winners while Sandifer had a triple and two RBI. Koenig had a single and two RBI. Effingham now sports an 11-1 record and is back in action Friday hosting Dieterich. St. Anthony drops to 6-3.
In B game action, Effingham was a 6-3 winner. The Mustangs stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead but St. Anthony knotted the score in the second. Effingham then moved ahead with a run in the third and tacked on two more in the fourth.
Devore had two singles to lead Effingham's seven-hit attack. St. Anthony was led by Utz with a single and a double.

Altamont 18, Brownstown 2
Altamont bounced Brownstown 18-2 in three innings. The victory gives the Indians a 7-2 record.
The Indians stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then batted around in the second, scoring seven runs. Brownstown tallied two in the bottom of the second. Altamont ended the game with seven runs in the third, again batting around.
Altamont had nine hits in the game led by Bowlin with a home run and six RBI and Shephard with a single, home run and an RBI. The Indians drew seven walks, had three players hit by pitches and the Bombers had four errors.
Brownstown's Koll had a double for the only hit of the game as Stone pitched the victory.
