Chicago Cubs legend Ernie Banks has died.

Nicknamed "Mr. Cub", Banks spent all 19 of his major league seasons with the Cubs and was the first black player in Cubs history.

A 14-time All-Star, Banks batted .274 with 512 homers and 1,636 RBI in 2,528 major league games. The two-time National League Most Valuable Player (back to back in 1958 and 1959) was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.

In 2013, Banks was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor given to citizens in the United States.

Ernie was 83.
