T-town Wins Own Wooden Bat Tourney

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School claimed the championship of its own Wooden Bat Tournament Saturday at Wooden Shoe Field.
The Shoes opened the tourney by blanking Dieterich 10-0 in five innings. Jared Waldhoff picked up his first pitching win of the season allowing one hit while striking out nine of the 17 batters he faced. The only hit came in the second by Westjohn.
T-town, meanwhile, had 11 hits in the contest led by Waldhoff with two singles and a double, Danny Nosbisch with a single, double and triple, Chase Wendling with a double and triple and Alex Goldstein with a single and a double.
North Clay (Louisville) handed Neoga a 13-3 loss, ending the game in the sixth via the 10-run rule in the second game of the tourney. The Cardinals batted around in the third, breaking open a close game by scoring seven runs in the inning.
Britton had a single and a triple for the winners while Clifton had a single and a double. Hilderbrand had two doubles and a home run with three RBI. McKnelly had a single and a double. Dylan Walker picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with four strikeouts.
Neoga was led by R. Walk with a single and a double.
In the third-place game, Neoga bounced Dieterich 15-2 going all seven innings. The Indians had 16 hits in the contest led by Romack with a double and a triple and Moore with three singles.
In the championship game, T-town squared off against North Clay and captured a 9-3 win. Kyle Pruemer pushed his pitching record to 2-0 on a seven-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
The Shoes trailed North Clay after three 2-1 but came back with a four-run fourth then tacked on two runs in the fifth and sixth behind 11 hits. Bobby Wenthe banged out two home runs, a solo shot in the third and a two-run blow in the sixth. Pruemer had a solo homer in the fifth. Alex Goldstein had a single, double and triple.
