(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals avoided arbitration and agreed to a two-year deal with reliever Jordan Walden on Tuesday. Walden was acquired in the deal with the Braves that also brought Jason Heyward to St. Louis. The 27-year-old Walden struck out 62 in 58 appearances last season.


Cubs Ink Ross

(Chicago, IL) -- The Cubs signed veteran catcher David Ross to a two-year deal on Tuesday. The 37-year-old Ross hit .184 with seven homers in 50 games with the Red Sox last season.


Orioles Claim Lavarnway Off Waivers

(Baltimore, MD) -- The Orioles claimed catcher Ryan Lavarnway off waivers from the Cubs on Tuesday. The Cubs had just claimed the backstop off waivers from the Dodgers last week. Meanwhile, the Cubs also claimed pitcher Mike Kickham off waivers from the Giants.
