Cardinals Sign Reliever Belisle

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Cardinals are adding bullpen depth. Fox Sports reports they have signed right-handed reliever Matt Belisle to a one-year, $3.5-million contract. The 34-year-old spent the last six seasons with the Rockies, going 32-and-32 with a 3.88 ERA and four saves.
The Cardinals are promoting Chris Correa to the position of director of scouting. He replaces Dan Kantrovitz, who left to become assistant general manager of the A's last week. Correa was most recently the director of baseball development and has been with the team since 2009.
MLB Non-Tender Deadline Passes
(St. Louis, MO) -- Baseball's deadline to offer contracts to arbitration eligible players has passed. The Cardinals had to decide on outfielders Jon Jay and Peter Bourjos, infielder Daniel Descalso, catcher Tony Cruz, and pitchers Lance Lynn and Jordan Walden. Non-tendered players become free agents.
