Cardinals Acquire Heyward, Walden From Braves

(St. Louis, MO) -- The St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves are making the first big deal of the Hot Stove season. The Cardinals have acquired outfielder Jason Heyward and right-handed reliever Jordan Walden from the Braves in exchange for starting pitcher Shelby Miller and minor-league pitching prospect Tyrell Jenkins.
Heyward hit .271 with 11 homers and 58 RBI last season for Atlanta. Walden went 0-and-2 with a 2.88 ERA and had three saves in 58 games out of the Braves' bullpen last season. The 23-year-old Miller is 26-and-18 with a 3.33 ERA in 69 career games, 63 of which were starts for the Cardinals.
