Molina Wins Gold Glove Again, Wainwright Falls Short

(New York, NY) -- Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is celebrating another Gold Glove Award. He captured his seventh career honor for defensive excellence, beating out Milwaukee's Jonathan Lucroy and Pittsburgh's Russell Martin. Pitcher Adam Wainwright lost out to LA's Zack Greinke.
Wainwright is a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award. Already a two-time winner, Wainwright went 20-9 with a 2.38 ERA this past season The Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw and Reds' Johnny Cueto are the other finalists.
Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong is a finalist for National League Rookie of the Year. Wong hit .249 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 113 games this season. Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom and Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton are the other finalists.
Free agency is underway in Major League Baseball. Eligible players can now sign with any club. The Cardinals have five free agents in pitchers Justin Masterson, Jason Motte and Pat Neshek, catcher A.J. Pierzynski and second baseman Mark Ellis.
Sale, Abreu Named Finalists For AL Honors
(Chicago, IL) -- White Sox ace Chris Sale and first baseman Jose Abreu have been selected as finalists for a pair of prestigious awards. Sale is one of three finalists for the AL Cy Young Award, while Abreu is up for the AL Rookie of the Year Award. The winners will be announced next week.
