(Kansas City, MO) -- Madison Bumgarner tossed seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Giants in a 7-1 victory over the Royals in Game One of the World Series from Kauffman Stadium. Bumgarner allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out five and Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run first inning.
Pablo Sandoval also drove in two for San Francisco, which takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Salvador Perez broke up the shutout with a solo homer in the seventh for Kansas City. James Shields was tagged for five runs in three-plus innings and suffered the loss. KC will host Game Two on Wednesday.
