Junior High All-Star Baseball Showcase This Weekend

The Junior High All-Star Baseball Showcase will take place Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12 at the Lenz  Field & Sports Complex in Jacksonville.

Two teams with area players will be competing. On the seventh-grade South squad, coached by Ron Webb and Matt Braunecker, are Kyle Pemberton (Effingham), Aaron Webb (Effingham), Gavin Braunecker (Effingham), Tate Niebrugge (Effingham), Parker Siner (Effingham), Kyle Schafer (Jasper County), Dylan Lahue (Alton), Brayden Haug (Alton), Austin Brown (Piasa SW), Trever Seets (Piasa SW), Cameron Sharp (Mount Olive) and Max Hudzik (Mount Olive).

The South squad will play two games in pool play Saturday at 5 p.m. against the Central team and at 7:30 p.m. against the West squad. In Sunday action, the South seventh-graders face the West at 10 a.m. in pool play.

On the eighth-grade East team, coached by Rod Wiethop, are Mitch Apke (Teutopolis), Zach Lee (Effingham), Cooper Jackson (Effingham), Dylan Bushur (Effingham), Connor Bierman (Jasper County), Dominic Magrini (St. Malachy), Dalton Loschen (Potomac-Armstrong), Emmanuel Lutes (Gifford), Nolan Roseman (Gifford), Cole Jones (Champaign St. Matthews), Nathan Meese (Oblong) and Conner Potts (Oblong).

The eighth-grade squad will meet the North team at 2 p.m. Saturday and have a 5 p.m. game against the South squad at 5 p.m. in pool play.

Then in Sunday play, the East eighth-graders face the West at 10 a.m. and the Northwest at 12:30 p.m., also in pool play.

The top two seeded teams after pool play in seventh-grade and eighth-grade will play for the championships at 3 p.m. on fields 1 and 6.
