T-town Nabs Doubleheader, M. Grove Takes EIC Tourney Title

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School captured a baseball doubleheader over Altamont Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won 8-2 and 9-0. In the 8-2 win, T-town took a 2-0 first inning lead and tallied two runs in the second, third and fifth innings. T-town had eight hits in the contest led by Bueker with three singles and two RBI, Westendorf a double and an RBI and Koester a double and an RBI.

Hosick, Runge and Vaughn had a single each for the Indians.

In the 9-0 victory, T-town banged out 12 hits led by Hartke and Mette with a single and double each. Hartke had three RBI and Mette one. Bloemer, Roepke, Niemerg and Thoele had two singles each. Niemerg had three RBI and Thoele one.

Altamont had four hits, singles by N. Miller, Wolff, Winn and C. Miller.

At St. Elmo

Mulberry Grove captured the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Thursday evening.

Mulberry Grove blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 10-0. The winners had 11 hits led by Murray and Goodin with two singles each and Huhn with a double and an RBI.

Leading BSE were Noah Flowers and Drake Hall with two singles each. BSE drops to 6-7.

In the third place contest, Patoka edged Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 4-3. Both teams had six hits but BCCH finished with five errors.

Austin Shelton led BCCH with a single, double and an RBI while Westin Giles contributed two singles and an RBI.
