MATTOON -- Effingham blanked Mattoon in the junior high school South Central Conference baeball championship game Thursday. The contest was a makeup from a rained out game.
The two teams went scoreless through four. Effingham took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on a solo home run by Bushur, then tacked on three runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Lee pitched a one-hitter for six innings allowing no walks and striking out 13. Wolfe pitched the final inning with one strikeout.
Lee had a single, double and two RBI while Jackson had a single, double and three RBI and Ballman a double. EJHS finished with a 4-0 conference mark and is 13-3 overall.

At Wayne City
Wayne City handed North Clay (Louisville) a 17-15 loss in the SIJHSAA Class M Baseball Regional Thursday.
North Clay held an 11-3 lead after two innings. Wayne City came back with a seven-run fourth. North Clay held a 15-11 lead going into the bottom of the sixth. Wayne City tallied six runs to pull out the victory.
L. Fleener had three singles and two RBI for North Clay while B. Repking had a double, triple and two RBI, T. Jones two singles, E. Burkett three singles and two RBI, Clifton two singles and a double and T. Smith two singles and two RBI.
