South Central, T-town, BSE Nab Baseball Wins

KINMUNDY -- South Central High School edged Effingham St. Anthony 1-0 in baseball action Tuesday.

The Cougars tallied the lone run in the second inning. Peters picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with eight strikeouts. Peters also aided his own cause with a home run. Ratermann had two singles for the Cougars who improve to 7-3.

St. Anthony was led by Jansen, Gibson and Levitt with a hit each.

At Neoga

Teutopolis tallied two runs in the third and went on for an 8-0 win over Neoga.

The Wooden Shoes' M. Koester pitched a four-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts. It was long ball time once agian as the Shoes banged out three home runs. J. Roepke had a home run and two RBI while L. Niemerg had a home run and an RBI and A. Hartke a single, home run and four RBI. J. Bloemer added two singles and an RBI.

Neoga was led by Hoedebecke, Kingery, Moore and Walk with a single each.

At St. Elmo

Brownstown/St. Elmo and Mulberry Grove advanced to the championship game of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament with wins Tuesday.

BSE edged Patoka 2-1 in the opener. Patoka took a 1-0 lead in the fourth before BSE came back with two runs in the fifth. Noah Flowers was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with no walks and 13 strikeouts.

Malachi Maxey had a double and an RBI for the winners who improve to 6-6.

In the second contest, Mulberry Grove blanked Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 10-0 in five innings. Childress picked up the pitching win.

The finals are scheduled for Thursday with BCCH taking on Patoka for third place at 4:15 p.m. and the championship scheduled for 7 p.m. against BSE and Mulberry Grove.
