SIGEL -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School handed Sigel St. Michael a 13-3 lbaseball oss in five innings in the Class 1A St. Michael Regional. The win pushes the Bullpups into the title contest today at 4:30 p.m.
St. Anthony took a 4-2 first inning lead then had a six-run second and ended the game via the 10-run rule.
Koester led the 14-hit Bullpup attack with a single, solo home run and two RBI while Mendella added two singles, two doubles and an RBI. Guy and Tingley had two singles each. Guy had four RBI and Tingley one. Wall added a double and three RBI.
St. Michael hits came from Fearday and G. Hoene with a single each.
In the second contest, Dieterich edged Newton St. Thomas 7-6. Dieterich now faces St. Anthony today for the regional championship. The champion advances to a site to be determined Saturday at 11 a.m. to face the Nokomis Regional winner, either Nokomis or Findlay Okaw Valley.

At Effingham
Jasper County advanced but Effingham fell in its own Class 3A Regional Saturday.
Jasper County blanked Mattoon 1-0 in the opening game. Mount Zion then downed Effingham 2-0.
The Mustangs and Mount Zion went scoreless through the first four innings before Mount Zion tallied both its runs in the fifth.
Mount Zion had four hits led by Chausse with a double and Beckett with a single and an RBI. Effingham had three hits led by Lee with two singles. The Mustangs are 12-3 on the season.
Jasper County and Mount Zion will meet at 4:30 p.m. today for the regional championship. The winner advances to the Mount Zion Sectional Saturday at 11 a.m. against the winner of the Williamsville Regional, either Williamsville or Rochester.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis and Cumberland advanced to face each other today in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional championship.
T-town blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 11-0 in the first game Saturday. Cumberland followed with a 6-1 win over Altamont.
Cumberland had a 2-0 lead in the second then tacked on two runs in the fifth and single runs in the sixth and seventh. Cumberland had three hits and was aided by four Altamont errors.
Altamont had one hit, a single by Kuhlman. Altamont ends the season with a 10-7 record.
T-town took a 2-0 first inning lead and ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule, 11-0. Brownstown/St. Elmo had one hit, a single by Philpot. T-town had 10 hits led by Mitch Apke with a single, double, triple and three RBI, Luke Ungrund with a single, double and two RBI, Lucas Drees with two singles and two RBI and Josh Hardiek with a double and an RBI.
T-town faces Cumberland at 4:30 p.m. today for the right to advance to sectional play. The winner advances to the Teutopolis Sectional Saturday at 11 a.m. against the Casey-Westfield Regional winner, either Paris Crestwood or Lawrenceville Parkview.
