Effingham St. Anthony High School hosted Brownstown/St. Elmo in baseball competition Thursday and blanked the Bombers 10-0 in five innings.

The Bulldogs banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Utz with two singles and a double, Puckett with a single and triple, Lorenz with a single and double and Jansen with two singles.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had three hits, all singles, by three players. The Bombers drop to 2-1 in the National Trail Conference, 3-2 overall.

At Altamont

Altamont blasted Ramsey 19-0 behind the stellar pitching of Nick Miller.

Miller was one walk away from pitching a perfect game. He finished with the no-hitter, striking out 10.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took a 3-0 first inning lead and ended this one via the 10-run rule in the fifth, 11-0 over Mulberry Grove.

The Wooden Shoes had 11 hits led by J. Roepke with two doubles and two RBI, L. Niemerg with three singles and an RBI and J. Bloemer with a double.

L. Deters pitched one inning of no-hit ball with one strikeout. M. Koester came on to pitch four innings allowing two hits with one walk and one strikeout. He improved to 1-0.

T-town is now 4-0 on the season while Mulberry Grove drops to 2-2. T-town is back in action Saturday at Parkland College against Putnam County in a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m.

South Central claimed a 9-0 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick. The Cougars scored four runs in the fifth inning, breaking a 0-0 tie.

Ratermann had a single and double for the winners. Geiler chipped in with two singles. Powless picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts. BCCH drops to 0-3 on the season.

At Dieterich

North Clay (Louisville) stepped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and went on for a 5-3 win over Dieterich.

The Maroons came back to move ahead 3-2 in the fourth but the Cardinals tied in the sixth. North Clay then scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory.

North Clay had 12 hits led by Stinnett and Repking with a single and double. Repking had an RBI. Lovett and McNeely had two singles each.

Dieterich's hits came from Thoele and Radloff.
