(Milwaukee, WI) -- Kolten Wong's RBI-single in the third inning held up as the Cardinals clipped the reeling Brewers 3-2 in the first of four games at Miller Park. Yadier Molina had a two-run single in the first for St. Louis, which won its sixth straight and increased its NL Central lead to four games over Milwaukee. Marco Gonzales picked up the win and Trevor Rosenthal earned his 42nd save. Rickie Weeks homered and Jonathan Lucroy doubled in the other run for the Crew, who have lost nine in-a-row and are now tied with Atlanta for the second NL Wild Card spot. Wily Peralta allowed all three runs in six frames to fall to 15-10 with the loss.

The Cardinals made a couple moves on Wednesday as they continue to push toward the postseason. St. Louis called up Xavier Scruggs from Triple-A Memphis. The team also transferred Shane Robinson to the 60-day disabled list.


Cubs Clash With Pirates

(Chicago, IL) -- The Cubs welcome in the Pirates today for the first of a three-game series at Wrigley Field. Tsuyoshi Wada toes the rubber for Chicago while Vance Worley goes for the Bucs. Pittsburgh took two of three the last time the teams met in June.


White Sox At Tribe

(Cleveland, OH) -- The White Sox start a three-game series at Cleveland tonight. Chris Sale gets the call for the Sox, who took one of three the last time the teams met in late August. T.J. House toes the rubber for the Indians.


Diamondbacks Down Padres For Series Split

(San Diego, CA) -- Aaron Hill and Didi Gregorius both plated a run and scored as the Diamondbacks defeated the Padres 5-1 at Petco Park. Ender Inciarte and Miguel Montero also knocked in a run each for Arizona, which won the final two to earn a split in the four-game series. Randall Delgado tossed five scoreless innings to even his record at 3-3. Will Venable scored the lone run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning for the Friars, who went 6-4 on their 10-game homestand. Ian Kennedy allowed four runs in 5 1/3 frames against his former team as he fell to 10-12 with the loss.


Ninth Inning Home Runs Give Yankees Win Over Red Sox

(Bronx, NY) -- Chase Headley and Mark Teixeira tagged ninth inning solo homers to give the Yankees a 5-4 walk-off win over the Red Sox in the Bronx. Derek Jeter drove in two runs and scored, while Carlos Beltran added the other RBI. Adam Warren picked up his third win in relief for the Yankees, who remain four games out of the second AL wild card spot.  Koji Uehara blew his fifth save and took the loss.  David Ortiz blasted two long balls and finished with three RBI and Brock Holt also went deep. The Red Sox have dropped three of their last four.


Tigers Dump Indians In 11th

(Cleveland, OH) -- The Tigers put up seven runs in the top of the 11th to grab an 11-4 win over the Indians to conclude a four-game series at Progressive Field. The deciding frame was punctuated by a Victor Martinez three-run homer as Detroit took three of four and have a half-game lead on the Mariners for the second-wild card spot in the AL. Cleveland is five back. Reliever Phil Coke picked up his fourth win. The Tribe battled back from a four-run first inning to tie the game at four. Yan Gomes had two RBI. Josh Tomlin took the loss, getting charged with five runs in the 11th.


Mariners Stomp Rangers

(Arlington, TX) -- Robinson Cano paced the Seattle offense with four RBI as the Mariners rolled the Rangers 10-2 in Arlington. Chris Denorfia hit a solo shot and Jesus Sucre added an RBI. Roenis Elias earned the win with five innings of one-run ball as Seattle remained a half-game behind Detroit for the second AL Wild Card spot. Robbie Ross Jr. lasted just 1 2/3 inning and allowed six runs for the loss. Rougned Odor hit a solo shot and Alex Rios plated a run in defeat.


Angels Top Twins

(Minneapolis, MN) -- Chris Iannetta hit a sac-fly in the top of the ninth as the Angels topped the Twins 5-4 from Target Field. David Freese capped a four-run fourth with an RBI double to give the Halos a 4-0 lead. Freese, Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick were all 2-for-4 with an RBI for Los Angeles, which is five games up on Oakland for the lead in the AL West. Joe Smith picked up the win while Huston Street notched save No. 12. Eduardo Nunez had a three-run homer for Minnesota, which has lost two of three.  Glen Perkins took the loss.


Orioles Sweep Reds

(Baltimore, MD) -- The Orioles hit three home runs in route to a 9-7 win over the Reds at Camden Yards. The victory finishes off a three-game sweep for Baltimore, which leads the AL East by nine-and-a-half games over the Yankees. Nelson Cruz hit a two-run dinger for Baltimore while Jonathan Schoop added a solo shot. Nick Hundley cranked a three-run bomb for the O's and Tommy Hunter logged the win in relief.  Devin Mesoraco was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish with a solo home run and four RBI in the loss. Mike Leake allowed seven runs in a four-inning start with Manny Parra falling to 0-2 out of the bullpen.
