>>Arrieta, Cubs Get By O's 

(Chicago, IL)  --  Jake Arrieta combined with two relievers on a five-hitter as the Cubs beat the Orioles 4-1 at Wrigley Field. Arrieta allowed just four hits and one run over seven innings to improve to 7-and-4 against his former team. Hector Rondon got the final three outs for his 20th save as Chicago took the opener of the three-game series. Luis Valbuena and Javier Baez hit solo homers and Logan Watkins and Arismendy Alcantara singled in runs for the Cubs. Kevin Gausman gave up three runs in five frames to fall to 7-and-5 with the loss. Nelson Cruz belted his major league-leading 34th home run of the season for Baltimore. 

 

>>Phillies Top Cardinals

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Ryan Howard knocked in two runs to guide the Phillies to a 5-4 win over the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park. Ben Revere added three hits and two runs for Philadelphia, which has won three of four. Kyle Kendrick allowed four runs in six-and-a-third innings for the win. Jonathan Papelbon notched his 31st save. Adam Wainwright gave up all the runs over six frames for the loss. Matt Adams hit his 13th homer of the year for St. Louis, which had a four-game win streak snapped. 

 

>>Prado Lifts Yankees Past WhiteSox

(Bronx, NY)  --  Martin Prado hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to send the Yankees to a 4-3 win over the White Sox in the Bronx. Prado hit a two-run homer earlier in the game while Jacoby Ellsbury had an RBI double for New York. Shane Green allowed three runs over five-plus innings while David Robertson got the win in relief. The Yankees have won four of six. John Danks gave up three runs in five-plus frames for Chicago while Daniel Webb suffered the loss. Jose Abreu hit a three-run homer for the Sox, who have lost four straight.
