Cubs Walk Off Rays In 12

(Chicago, IL) -- Anthony Rizzo hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Cubs to a 3-2 win over the Rays at Wrigley Field.  Javier Baez and Chris Coghlan each plated a run as well for Chicago, which avoided being swept with the victory. Travis Wood threw six innings of one-run ball and Carlos Villanueva picked up the win. Desmond Jennings went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and Curt Casali scored off an error as Tampa Bay saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. Cesar Ramos took the loss after Alex Cobb struck out six in six innings.


Cardinals Top Orioles

(Baltimore, MD) -- Peter Bourjos hit a three-run homer to help the Cardinals pull out an 8-3 win over the Orioles in Baltimore. Kolten Wong ended 4-for-5 with two runs while Jon Jay was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs for St. Louis, which snapped a two-game skid. Lance Lynn allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings for the win. Kevin Gausman gave up three runs in five innings for the loss. Nick Markakis had four hits and two runs to go with an RBI as Baltimore saw a three-game win streak end.


Mariners Double Up White Sox

(Seattle, WA) -- Austin Jackson went 3-for-4 and plated all four of the team's runs to lead the Mariners to a 4-2 win over the White Sox at Safeco Field.  Chris Taylor and Chris Denorfia each tallied a pair of hits for Seattle, which took three of four from Chicago and has won five of its last six. Dominic Leone picked up the win and Fernando Rodney closed it out for his 33rd save. John Danks gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings to fall to 9-8 for the White Sox, who have lost seven on nine. Tyler Flowers cracked a solo shot and Conor Gillaspie singled in a run in the loss.


Reds Roll Marlins

(Cincinnati, OH) -- Johnny Cueto tossed eight innings of two-run ball as the Reds rolled the Marlins 7-2 from Great American Ball Park. Cueto struck out nine as he improved to 14-6. Devin Mesoraco hit a grand slam and a two-run homer to back Cincinnati, which avoided the three-game sweep. Brad Hand allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings for the loss. Giancarlo Stanton and Casey McGehee each went deep for Miami, which has lost three of five.


Phillies Walk Off Mets

(Philadelphia, PA) -- Ryan Howard hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Phillies to a 7-6 win over the Mets at Citizens Bank Park. Chase Utley went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBI. Dominic Brown doubled in two runs and Ken Giles got the win in relief for Philly, which has won four of six. Lucas Duda and Travis d'Arnaud belted solo shots for the New York. Juan Lagares tallied a pair of hits and plated two runs as the Mets fell short of completing the three-game sweep. Jenrry Mejia fell to 5-5 with the loss.


Padres Top Pirates

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Seth Smith knocked in three runs and scored twice as the Padres topped the Pirates 8-2 from PNC Park. Yonder Alonso and Jedd Gyorko drove in two runs each for San Diego, which has won three of four. Tyson Ross allowed two runs in six innings for the win. Charlie Morton gave up five runs in as many innings for the loss. Gregory Polanco hit a two-run homer for Pittsburgh, which lost the final two of this three-game series.


Dodgers Drop Brewers

(Milwaukee, WI) -- Clayton Kershaw dealt for eight innings as the Dodgers dropped the Brewers 5-1 from Miller Park. Kershaw improved to 14-2 with eight innings of one-run ball. A.J. Ellis hit a solo homer while Adrian Gonzalez knocked in two runs for Los Angeles, which snapped a two-game slide. Ryan Braun went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Milwaukee, which had won three straight. Jimmy Nelson allowed two runs in six innings for the loss.


Rockies Drop Diamondbacks in 10

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Corey Dickerson hit the go-head solo shot in the top of the 10th inning as the Rockies picked up a 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Wilin Rosario also blasted a solo homer and plated two runs. Ben Paulsen belted a two-run shot for his first career home run as Colorado snapped a three-game losing streak. Matt Belisle picked up the win and LaTroy Hawkins notched his 18th save. Mark Trumbo doubled in two runs in the first inning for Arizona, which has lost four of its last six. Oliver Perez gave up the two extra-inning runs to fall to 2-2 after Wade Miley struck out eight in six innings of work.


Wood Leads Braves Past Nationals In Rubber Match

(Atlanta, GA) -- Alex Wood tossed seven-and-a-third innings of one-run ball to lead the Braves to a 3-1 win over the Nationals in the rubber match of a weekend series at Turner Field.  Wood struck out 12 as he improved his mark to 8-9. Craig Kimbrel closed it out for his 34th save. Justin Upton homered, while Jason Heyward and Evan Gattis also plated a run each for the Braves, who are now 3 1/2 games behind the NL East-leading Nats. Ian Desmond went 2-for-4 with a homer for Washington. Gio Gonzalez gave up two runs in 4 2/3 frames to fall to 6-9 with the loss.


Indians Drop Yankees

(Bronx, NY) -- Jason Kipnis went 3-for-5 with three runs scored as the Indians defeated the Yankees 4-1 from The Bronx. Michael Brantley and Yan Gomes each had two RBI for Cleveland, which won the final two games of this three-game series. Carlos Carrasco allowed two hits over five innings for the win. Jacoby Ellsbury hit a solo homer for New York. Hiroki Kuroda allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings for the loss.


Blue Jays Beat Tigers In 19 Innings

(Toronto, Ontario) -- Jose Bautista's walk-off RBI single in the 19th inning gave the Blue Jays a 6-5 victory over the Tigers at the Rogers Centre. The six-hour, 37-minute game was the longest in time and innings in Jays history. Reliever Chad Jenkins got the win, while Jose Reyes was 4-for-9 with two RBI.  Dioner Navarro connected for a two-run homer off David Price. Toronto took two of three from Detroit. Starter Rick Porcello was forced into action and fell to 13-7. J.D. Martinez was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the defeat.


Rangers Top Astros

(Houston, TX) -- The Rangers trailed early but rolled off six runs in the middle innings to beat the Astros 6-2 at Minute Maid Park. Adrian Beltre and Shin Soo-Choo tagged solo shots while Adam Rosales and Elvis Andrus chipped in a RBI each. Nick Martinez got the win with five innings of two-run ball as the Rangers snapped a short two-game slide. Outfielder Alex Rios left with an ankle injury in the fourth. Dallas Keuchel took the loss after allowing five runs in six frames, falling to 10-8. Chris Carter and Jason Castro plated runs as Houston lost its fourth contest in the last six games.


Red Sox Top Angels

(Anaheim, CA) -- Yoenis Cespedes blasted a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to lead the Red Sox to a 3-1 win over the Angels in the rubber game of their three-game set from Anaheim. Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 for Boston, which totaled just four hits in the win. Rubby De La Rosa struck out eight in seven innings of work to pick up the victory and Koji Uehara closed it out for his 25th save. Joe Smith got charged for the loss after Hector Santiago threw six shutout innings for the Angels, who have lost five of their last six. Mike Trout went deep for their lone run.


Twins Clip Athletics

(Oakland, CA) -- Phil Hughes struck out seven in seven innings of one-run ball to guide the Twins to a 6-1 win over the Athletics at O.co Coliseum. Hughes improved to 12-8 for Minnesota, which avoided a four-game sweep and snapped a four-game losing streak. Josh Willingham and Brian Dozier both homered and Kurt Suzuki drove in two runs in the victory. Luke Gregerson took the loss after giving up three runs in the top of the eighth. Stephen Vogt singled in the lone run as Oakland saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.


Royals Sweep Giants

(Kansas City, MO) -- Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez each belted a two-run homer to guide the Royals to a 7-4 win over the Giants at Kauffman Stadium. Billy Butler and Norichika Aoki plated a run as Kansas City extended its winning streak to seven with the three-game sweep. Danny Duffy picked up the win and Greg Holland notched his 34th save. Tim Lincecum got rocked for six runs in just 3 1/3 innings to fall to 9-8. Andrew Susac totaled three RBI for the Giants, who have lost four straight.


Jeter Moves Into Sixth All Time On Baseball Hits List

(New York, NY) -- Derek Jeter is now in sixth place on baseball's all-time hit list. In the sixth inning Saturday at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees shortstop surpassed Hall of Famer Honus Wagner with a single against Cleveland for the 3,431 hit of his career. Sixth place is likely where Jeter will finish his Major League career since he is retiring from baseball at the end of this season. The Yankees captain would need to record 85 more hits to pass Tris Speaker for fifth place on the career hits list.
