(San Diego, CA) -- The Padres used an eight-run seventh inning to pick up a 12-1 win over the Cardinals at Petco Park. Will Venable and Jedd Gyorko both cracked a home run and tallied four RBI apiece. Yangervis Solarte went 4-for-5 and batted in two runs for San Diego, which has won two straight since losing three in-a-row. Jesse Hahn threw seven innings of one-run ball to improve to 7-2 on the season. Joe Kelly got tagged for four runs and seven hits in five frames of work to fall to 2-2 for the Cardinals, who have lost six of their last eight. Peter Bourjos drove in the lone St. Louis run.

The Cardinals have acquired right-handed starter Justin Masterson from the Indians in exchange for minor league outfielder James Ramsey. Masterson has been on the disabled list since July 8 with a knee injury, but was scheduled to start for Cleveland Friday. He will now toe the rubber for St. Louis on Saturday against Milwaukee. The 29-year-old went just 4-and-6 with a 5.51 ERA for the Tribe this season.

The Cardinals look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Padres today from Petco Park. St. Louis is 56-50 and sends Shelby Miller to the mound. Miller is 7-8 with a 4.20 ERA. San Diego counters with 2-2 Odrisamer Despaigne.
