Effingham Junior Post 120 Drops Third Place Game To Salem

American Legion Effingham Junior Post 120 pitcher Will Clausius throws to home plate during the third place game of the District Tournament Tuesday.

American Legion Effingham Junior Post 120 lost 11-1 to Salem Post 128 Tuesday at Teutopolis High  School in the third place game of the District Tournament.

Zach Consolino got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered four hits. Roudy Hensley, Consolino, Dakota Mcdaneld and Brenden Boles helped lead Salem Post 128. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.

Will Clausius took the loss on the hill for Effingham. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out none.

In the first inning, Post 120 pushed across its only run of the day on an RBI double by Lane Koenig. The lead stayed with Salem Post 128 after the first, when it scored three runs on a sacrifice fly by Cole Steward and an RBI single by Dakota Mcdaneld. Salem Post 128 got three runs in the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Salem Post 128 scored on an RBI single by Mcdaneld, bringing home Riley Martin.

Effingham ends its season with a record of 23-12. The players and coaches would like to thank Effingham Legion Post 120 for their commitment to baseball in Effingham in providing the opportunity for each player to develop their baseball skill, but more importantly, to grow as a young man.
