Babe Ruth Prep League Tournament -- July 16

JCR Carpentry and Effingham Asphalt moved into the title contest of the Babe Ruth Prep League Tournament Wednesday evening at Evergreen Hollow Park.

JCR bounced Taylor Law Offices 19-9 in five innings. JCR edged out to a 4-3 first inning lead then had a five-run second and led 13-5 after three.

Ben Strullmeyer picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter. JCR Carpentry had eight hits in the contest led by Clint Weber with a double, triple and two RBI and Dylan Bushur with two singles, a home run and four RBI.

Bryson Will had two singles and an RBI for Taylor Law.

In the second game, Effingham Asphalt blanked Niemerg Construction 10-0 in five innings. Neither team scored in the opening inning but Asphalt broke loose with a seven-run second.

Liam Hammer pitched a two-hitter while Landon Wolff picked up the loss on a three-hitter.

Luke Sparks had the only extra base hit of the game, a double and an RBI for Asphalt.

JCR Carpentry and Effingham Asphalt will meet Monday for the championship at 8 p.m. Taylor Law Offices and Niemerg Construction will square off for third place at 6 p.m.
