Effingham Post 120 Seniors Split With Shelby County

Effingham Legion Post 120 and Shelby County Legion Posts 289-611-725 split victories in Senior Legion action Tuesday evening.

Effingham claimed a 5-4 win while Shelby County picked up an 11-8 victory. In Effingham's win, Post 120 took a 3-0 lead in the second inning then added two in the fourth. Shelby County trailed 5-1 going into the seventh then scored three runs before Effingham squelched the comeback bid.

Both teams had seven hits. Effingham was led by Neil Williams with two singles and an RBI and Jacob Miller with two singles and an RBI. Jacob Kramer had a double and Tyler Hendryx a triple and an RBI for Shelby County.

Shelby County banged out 13 hits and held Effingham to only four hits in the 11-8 win. Shelby County jumped out to a 7-2 first inning lead and never looked back.

Zach Monroe had two singles, a double and an RBI for the winners while Christian Vonderheide added a single, double and an RBI. Tyler Romack had two singles and two RBI and Mark Jones two singles.

Effingham was led by Clayton Ruckman and Preston Walker with a double and two RBI each.
