Shelby Co. Nabs Two Legion Victories, Suffers One Loss

PIATT COUNTY -- Piatt County Legion downed Shelby County Legion Posts 289-611-725 11-8 in baseball action Saturday.

Piatt County took a 5-3 lead after three innings before Shelby County came back with three runs and led 7-5 in the top of the fifth. Piatt County then brought home six runs.

Shelby County had 13 hits in the contest led by Christian Vonderheide and Gunner Thies with two singles, a double and two RBI each. Trevor Moore had two singles, a double and one RBI.

The second game of the doubleheader was called due to lightening/rain in the top of the third.

In Sunday games, Shelby County handed Moultrie-Douglas a doubleheader loss, 10-0 and 7-0.

In the opener, Shelby County took a 1-0 first inning lead then scored over the next four out of five innings to end the game 10-0 in sixth.

Christian Vonderheide went five innings allowing no hits, no runs, one walk and striking out 13. Dylan Ohnesorge pitched the final inning allowing no hits, no runs and two walks.

Hayden Cole had two home runs with four RBI for the winners.

In the second game, Shelby County again jumped out to a first inning lead, 2-0. Romack had two singles, a double and drove in a run. Nic Hutchinson had a single and double.
