Altamont Downs Vandalia, Splits With T-town in Legion Play

VANDALIA -- Altamont Post 512 claimed a doubleheader victory over Vandalia Post 95 in Friday baseball competition.

Altamont won the opener 4-2. Altamont took a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied another run in the second and two in the fourth. Nick Miller pitched a nine-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Klaiton Wolff had two singles and an RBI while Kaleb Whitt had a triple and Devon Gurrettaz a double.

In the second contest, Post 512 came from an 8-5 deficit to pull out a 12-8 victory. Altamont had eight hits led by Whitt with two singles and two RBI and Sam Childerson with two singles.

At Teutopolis

Altamont Post 512 and Teutopolis Post 924 split victories in Sunday competition.

Post 512 took the opener 8-5. The score was knotted at 2-2 after three innings. T-town took a 5-3 lead after four. Altamont tied the score in the top of the fifth then scored three in the eighth to pull out the win.

Caden Miller had a double and drove in three runs for the winners while Cody Grove had two singles and an RBI.

In the second game, Teutopolis Post 924 was a 9-6 winner. Post 924 moved ahead 3-2 in the first but Altamont came back to score two in the second , one in the third and one in the top of the fourth to lead 6-5. Teutopolis then had a four-run bottom of the fourth to pull out the victory.

Dylan Bloemer was the winning pitcher for T-town.
