Mattoon Post Sweeps Shelby Legion Post Friday

Mattoon Legion Post #88 swept a pair of senior Legion baseball games from Shelby American Legion Posts 289-611-725 Friday, 10-0 and 7-2.

Hayden Cole and Trevor Moore got the only two hits for Shelby Legion in the opener, Cole picking up a double.

Dylan Ohnesorge suffered the pitching loss, allowing six runs, just one earned, on eight hits in 4-1/3 innings, walking one and striking out two. Tyler Hendryx pitched the final inning, allowing four runs on five hits and walking a batter.

In the second game, Trevor Moore and Mark Jones got the only two hits for Shelby Legion. Luke McConnell and Dylan Ohnesorge each scored a run.

Zach Monroe gave up six runs on one hit and five walks in 1-1/3 innings, striking out two. Tyler Romack faced one batter and gave up a hit that later turned into a run. Luke McConnell went 3-1/3 innings, allowing no runs on just two hits, walked three and fanned four. Gunner Thies pitched the final 1-1/3 innings, walking three.
