W/SS, Altamont Claim Baseball Wins

BROWNSTOWN -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 13-0 in five innings of high school baseball action Monday.

The two teams went scoreless through three innings before W/SS tallied seven in the fourth and ended the game with six runs in the fifth.

Alex Allen pitched the three-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts. Vonderheide had an inside the park home run for the winners while Kramer had a single and double, Moschenrose three singles and Ohnesorge two singles.

Windsor/Stew-Stras improves to 20-6 while Brownstown/St. Elmo drops to 12--8.

Altamont ended this game in the sixth via the 10-run rule, 11-1 over Patoka.

Patoka took a 1-0 first inning lead but Altamont came back with three runs in the second and fourth and five in the sixth. Winn had a single, double and an RBI while Ziegler had three singles and two RBI, Goeckner two singles and two RBI, Ricketts a single, double and an RBI, Borders and Armstrong two singles and an RBI each and Cornett a double and two RBI.

Wolff pitched the two-hitter with two walks and 10 strikeouts.

Paris came calling and scored single runs in the fifth and seventh for a 2-0 win over host Dieterich.

McDaniel led the Tigers with two singles while Spencer and Morris had a single and an RBI each.

Dieterich's two hits came off the bat of Traub with two singles.

Cumberland stepped out to a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for a 9-3 victory over Palestine-Hutsonville.

Sam Bauguss picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with three walks and three strikeouts. Blayke Cutts had two doubles, a triple and five RBI. Holden Elwood and Hunter Light had a single each while Elwood had two RBI and Light an RBI.

Neoga edged Ramsey 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the 10th. Kingery pitched a four-hitter to improve to 1-0. He also aided his own cause with two singles and a double. Baker had a double and an RBI while Romack had a double and two RBI.

The Indians improve to 13-5-1 on the season.

Robinson claimed a 5-4 win over Newton. The Maroons took a 5-0 lead in the second and that's all it took.

Newton came back with three in the third and one in the fifth. Reis had two singles and two RBI for the Eagles while Mammoser had three singles and Meinhart a double.

Stinnett had a home run and an RBI while Britton and Cox had two singles each. The Cardinals improve to 17-6-1 on the season.
