A 13-run first inning is tough to overcome, as the Neoga Indians found out Thursday in losing a five-inning 17-2 decision to the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes.
Bobby Wenthe pitched four innings of one-run ball for T-Town, allowing no hits but walking six batters. Wenthe struck out six.
Wenthe was his own best friend at the plate, too, slamming a homer and double and driving in five runs.
Also at the plate for Teutopolis: Borries--single and walk; Ungrund--single; Repking--single, run scored; Thoele--single, run scored; Flach--run scored, RBI; Johnson--two singles, RBI; Mette--single; Will--double and walk, run scored, two RBI; Kenter--walk, two runs scored; Niemerg--double and walk, run scored, RBI; Hardiek--single, RBI, two runs scored; Goldstein--two triples, RBI, three runs scored; Probst--double, run scored, RBI; Hartke--double, two singles, two RBI, two runs scored
Borries pitched the final inning for the Wooden Shoes, now 17-4 on the spring, allowing a run on two hits while striking out a batter.
For Neoga: Jake Baker--double and walk, RBI, run scored; Romack--double and RBI; Monroe, Moore, Rankin, Easton and Atwell, a walk apiece
Trevor Moore took the loss for Neoga, allowing 11 runs, but just one earned on six hits and two walks. Rankin went 1-1/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned on four hits and fanning two. Atwell pitched the final two innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and walking two.
Neoga is now 10-4-1 on the spring
