EHS, St. A, T-town, BSE Claim Baseball Wins

Effingham High School pushed its record to 10-5 on the season by blanking Casey-Westfield 7-0 in baseball action Friday.

The Hearts took a 2-0 first inning lead then tacked on a single run in the second, two in the fourth and finished out with two in the fifth.

EHS had eight hits led by Brayden Bone with two doubles and an RBI and Kevin Daugherty with a triple and two  RBI.

At Effingham

At Marshall

Effingham St. Anthony handed Marshall an 8-5 loss Saturday. Both teams had 11 hits and one error each.

The Bulldogs trailed 3-0 after four innings then tallied three runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 6-5 lead.

Neil Williams had a single, home run and three RBI while Austin Bushur had a single, home run and four RBI.

At Marshall

Teutopolis blanked Mount Zion 6-0. The two teams went scoreless through three innings before T-town tallied two in the fourth then added on four in the fifth.

Goldstein had two singles and drove in three runs for the Wooden Shoes. Niemerg had a double and an RBI and Flach a double.

Borries pitched the two-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts. T-town is now 13-3 on the season.

In Saturday action, Teutopolis fell to Nashville 15-5 then beat Breese Central 10-3.

Brownstown/St. Elmo handed Mulberry Grove an 8-2 loss to improve to 11-7 on the season.

BSE had six hits led by Levi Maxey with two singles and two RBI and Noah Flowers with a doiuble and three RBI. Jacob Behrends was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Behrends improves to 5-2.
