Effingham St. Anthony High School downed South Central 8-2 in baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 first inning lead then scored in the third, fourth and sixth. Jacob Lorenz and Kyle Bourgeois had two singles each for the winners while Austin Bushur and Neil Williams had a double each.

South Central was led by Bray with two singles and Holmes with a double.

At Effingham

Dieterich tallied two in the second and four in the fourth to blank Neoga 6-0 in high school baseball competition Wednesday.

The Movin' Maroons banged out 13 hits in the contest led by Shoemaker and Poe with three singles each. Shoemaker added two RBI. Traub had two singles and two RBI while Hartke had two singles and an RBI.

Newton had three hits, all singles by Romack, Walk and Olmstead.

North Clay (Louisville) had a 10-run third inning and went on for an 18-1 victory over Newton in five innings.

Cox had two singles, a double, home run and five RBI to lead the Cardinals. Stinnett had two singles and two RBI.

Newton was led by Huston with a single and double, Jansen with a double and Chesnut with two singles and an RBI.
