Effingham High School edged La Salle-Peru in both games of a doubleheader Saturday in baseball competition.

The Hearts won the opener 2-0 as Kevin Daugherty pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts. Effingham was led in hitting by Swayde Sanders with two singles and Kennon Mahaffey with a double.

EHS scored single runs in the second and third innings.

In the second contest, Effingham edged La Salle-Peru 2-1, scoring both runs in the first inning then holding off La Salle-Peru who tallied in the top of the seventh.

Lane Koenig picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with six strikeouts. Brayden Bone had a double while Sanders had a double and drove in two runs.

At Greenville

Teutopolis tallied a doubleheader win in Saturday competition.

T-town blaniked Greenville 6-0 in the opener. Ungrund pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts. Bobby Wenthe had a single and double while Kenter had a single and drove in three runs.

In the second game, T-town had a six-run fifth inning and went on for an 11-1 win over Columbia behind a 16-hit attack.

Hardiek went four for four with a single, three doubles and five RBI while Hartke had a single and dwo RBI.

At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg also captured a doubleheader victory Saturday.

Windsor/Stew-Stras won the opener over Central A&M 6-0. The squad had a four-run fourth and tallied two more in the sixth. Vonderheide pitched a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts and only one walk. Hutchinson had a single and double.

In the second contest, Windsor-Stew-Stras won 8-1. Jones pitched five-hitter with six strikeouts. Allen had a single and double while Bugger and Cole had two singles each.

Brwonstown/St. Elmo split a two-day doubleheader with Alden-Hebron. In a Friday contest, BSE was a 9-5 winner. BSE trailed 5-4 ointo the sixth then tallied five runs to pull out a 9-5 victory.

Noah Flowers came on in relief to pick up the win, going two innings and striking out four. Levi Maxey had a double and an RBI and Dustin Lawson a double and two RBI.

In the Saturday contest, Alden-Hebron tallied a 2-0 win over BSE, scoring both runs in the sixth.

Alec O'Halleran was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts.

The only hits for BSE came from Lawn with a single and Drake Hall with a single. BSE is now 3-3 on the season.

Altamont edged Alden-Hebron 2-1 in action Saturday at Brownstown. The Indians tallied single runs in the second and sixth inning.

C. Miller was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter. D. Ricketts had two of Altamont's hits with two singles and an RBI while T. Cornett had three singles. Altamont is now 1-2 on the season.
