EHS Drops Baseball Season Opener

Effingham High School opened its baseball season on a sour note Wednesday evening. The Hearts were blanked by Troy Triad 10-0.
The Hearts had only three hits in the game, all singles by Kevin Daugherty, Carter Hayes and Khye Heuerman. Daugherty picked up the pitching loss, going two innings and striking out three.
In freshman/sophomore action, Triad was a 17-7 winner. Lane Koenig led the Hearts with two home runs and drove in four runs. Zac Bateman chipped in with a single, double and two RBI. Ryan Barnes had a single and triple while Brent Beals, Eli Buhrman and Brogan Hull had a single each. Colby Utz contributed an RBI.
Cory Osborne suffered the pitching loss. The Hearts drop to 1-1.
