Cubs Fall To Rockies

(Scottsdale, AZ)  --  Charlie Blackmon lifted a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rockies a 9-6 win over the Cubs last night.  Chicago had scored three in the top of the ninth to take a 6-5 lead.  Javier Baez and Luis Valbuena each hit a homer for the Cubs.  Paolo Espino took the loss.  The Cubs clash with Seattle today.

Cardinals Top Twins

(Jupiter, FL)  --  Peter Bourjos scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth as the Cardinals beat the Twins 3-1 in Jupiter.  Matt Adams homered for St. Louis, which got five- and-a-third innings of one-run ball from starter Carlos Martinez.  Pat Neshak got the save.

The Cardinals are optioning pitcher Tyler Lyons to Triple-A Memphis.  The move will allow Lyons to stretch out his innings to be part of the Memphis starting rotation.  The Cardinals had been using him out of the bullpen this spring, but he allowed 13 earned runs in six spring outings.

Fans can vote on the Cardinals' next two inductees into the team's Hall of Fame.  Voting on the team's website runs through April 22nd.  Keith Hernandez, Jim Edmonds, Willie McGee and Mark McGwire are among those nominated, with the top two to be enshrined August 16.

White Sox Fall To Angels

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The White Sox pounded 14 hits, but 10 runs weren't enough in a 14-10 loss to the Angels yesterday.  Matt Davidson hit a three-run home run, Jose Abreu had a two-run shot and Jordan Danks added a solo homer in defeat.  Erik Johnson allowed eight hits and as many runs in four-plus innings for the loss.  The Sox are off today.

The Chicago White Sox made a few minor moves yesterday.  They optioned pitchers Andre Rienzo and Eric Surkamp and catcher Josh Phegley to Triple-A Charlotte.  They also assigned pitchers Chris Beck and Cody Winiarski and infielder Andy Wilkins to minor league camp.
