(Mesa, AZ) -- Chicago managed only five hits as the Cubs fell to the Diamondbacks 5-2. Starlin Castro had two knocks and a RBI while Emilio Bonifacio tripled for his lone hit. Jeff Samardzjia started for Chicago, throwing two innings of shutout baseball and striking out two. The Cubs clash with the Angels today in Tempe.

Cardinals Begin Spring Games

(Jupiter, FL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals begin the spring training slate today in Jupiter, Florida. The Cards take on the Miami Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium at 12:05 p.m. St. Louis sends right-hander Carlos Martinez to the hill while the Fish counter with ace Jose Fernandez. The two teams also meet Saturday afternoon.

White Sox Open Spring Play Today Against Dodgers

(Glendale, AZ) -- The White Sox open up Cactus League play today against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Camelback Ranch. The Sox start the regular season on March 31st at home against the Minnesota Twins.

The White Sox have traded infielder Jake Elmore to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash considerations. Elmore hit .242 with two homers and six RBI in 52 games with the Houston Astros last season. The 26-year-old is a career .291 hitter in six minor league seasons.
