Beverly Joan Hembree, 85, of Louisville, Il passed away at 4:00am Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Axiom Healthcare of Flora.
Beverley was born on December 7, 1939, in rural Louisville, the daughter of Louis Richard and Laura Sue (Mefford) Hembree.
Beverley lived a life filled with both independence and generosity. A dedicated worker, she spent many years in various roles, most recently at Kralis Brothers Food Processing. Her strong work ethic was matched by her passion for self-sufficiency. Each year, she cultivated a bountiful garden, spending her summers canning the fruits of her labor, a testament to her resourcefulness and connection to the land. She found immense joy in the outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature and observing the wildlife around her.
When her health allowed, Beverley generously volunteered her time delivering meals with Meals on Wheels, extending her caring nature to her community. She was a fiercely independent woman, preferring to manage her own affairs and maintain her own home. Even when she was unable to enjoy her beloved outdoor pursuits, she found solace in the pages of a good book, showcasing her lifelong love of reading.
Beverley is survived by her son: Ralph (Janet) Fowler of Louisville; siblings: Richard Earle Hembree of Louisville, Joe (Gean) Hembree of Xenia, Cubia (James) Acree of Xenia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter: Emily Hope Fowler.
It was Beverley's wishes for cremation and no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials in Beverley's name be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Clay County Animal Shelter.
