Donald E. Haag, 89, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway, IL. Donald was born on November 2, 1935, in Effingham, IL, the son of Festus and Clara (Woltman) Haag. He married Zetta Wharton in 1958, and she survives. Donald served in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington. He worked and retired at the Illinois Glove Factory in Effingham. To say that Donald was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan would be an understatement. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway. He was a Godly man who read his Bible daily and even had a dream about entering Heaven shortly before his passing.
Donald is survived by his wife, Zetta Haag of Effingham; son, David Haag of Effingham; sister-in-law, Marlene DeWeese of Effingham; brothers-in-law, Elwin Bushue of DeKalb, IL and Bill Laatsch of Altamont; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Charles Haag.
