Virginia Osseck (93) of Altamont

Virginia (Ginny) A. Osseck, loved and cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois at the age of 93.
 
Born on Sunday, October 18, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Rolla and Seraphine (Poncet) Zufall, Ginny was the third of six children. She received her education at Rosati Kain High School, an all-girls parochial school, where she formed lasting friendships and cherished memories. As a young girl, she delighted in roller skating with her friends and loved jitterbug dancing.
 
Ginny was a woman of deep faith and community spirit. She was an active and devoted member of St. Clare Catholic Church, where her presence and contributions were greatly valued. She also found joy and camaraderie as a member of the Altamont Garden Club, nurturing beauty both in her faith and her surroundings.
 
Ginny was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Osseck Sr. (after 53 years of marriage), her granddaughter Holly Hutchison, her three brothers Gene, Don and John Zufall and her sister Rita Klein. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her dear sister, Joanne Sousan.
 
Her legacy lives on through her seven devoted children: Linda (Lou) Viverito of Effingham, IL, Sue (Russ) Spitz of Mattoon, IL, Thomas (Margarita) Osseck Jr. of San Clemente, CA, Steve (Rhonda) Osseck of Oregon, IL, Peggy (David) Tappendorf of Ogden, UT, Jill (Steve) Sobol of Park City, UT, and Jacqueline Hutchison of Effingham, IL.
 
Ginny's heart overflowed with love for her 21 grandchildren: Michael (Emily) Viverito, Matthew (Becca) Viverito, Lauren (Ethan) Lee, Eric Viverito, Patrick Viverito; Dylan (Taimy) Spitz, Jon (Danielle) Spitz, Ryan (Talitha) Spitz, Katie Spitz; Thomas (Ashley) Osseck III; Jagger (Quinn) Osseck, Jade Osseck; Mark (Amanda) Tappendorf, Paul Tappendorf, Abby (Don Mahoney) Tappendorf; Carlie (Jacob) Haskins; James, Derek (Kenzie), Jared (Emma), Heidi and Darin Hutchison.
She was also the proud and adoring great-grandmother to Henry and Ainsley Viverito, Katie, Thomas and Ginny Viverito, Landon and Oliver Lee; Wesley, Sofia, Alex and Sam Spitz, Lola, Nash and Lyric Spitz, Morgan and Luke Spitz; Maddie Osseck; Aubrey, Adalyn and Connor Tappendorf; Audrey Haskins; and Avery Hutchison.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 216 N 9th St, Altamont, IL. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service time at the church.
