Ella Arline Evans, 77, of Cowden, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Born on October 17, 1947, in Pana, Arline was the cherished daughter of Oran Francis and Isabelle "Sally" Clara (Banning) Evans. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A proud graduate of Cowden High School, Class of 1967. In her younger years, Arline enjoyed her rolesas a healthcare provider and at Shelby County Community Service, both of which showcased her unwavering commitment to helping others. Arline’s passion for service extended to her involvement with the Cowden Library Board and her faithful membership at the First Christian Church in Cowden. Arline's life was a testament to the power of family and friendship.

She is survived by her loving sisters, Cindy (Jim) Moore, Barb Bennett and Marsha (Monty "Zonk") Mahaffey, all of Cowden; her brother, Joe (Denise) Evans of Effingham, her dear friend Rita Prosser of Cowden, and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Arline’s parents and her brother-in-law, Ernie Bennett, preceded her in death, leaving a legacy of love and family unity that Arline continued to foster throughout her life.

Known for her independent and strong-willed nature, Arline was an avid reader who delighted in the world of books. Her enjoyment of the popular television series NCIS was well-known among her friends and family, and her social nature ensured that she was always at the heart of gatherings and conversations. Arline's greatest joy was visiting with her loved ones, cherishing every moment spent in their company.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Cowden with Pastor Barry West officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Following the service, Arline will be laid to rest at Mound Cemetery. Memorials in Arline’s honor may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital and may be mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W.
